The 2023 European Show Jumping Championships were held at the Snai San Siro racecourse in Milan, Italy, from August 29 to September 3. 

The city of Milan, renowned for its rich history, breathtaking architecture and passion for sport, provided an ideal setting for these European Championships. Spectators from all over the world had the opportunity to immerse themselves in Italian culture while watching the world’s best riders battle it out in the team competition and then in the individual final on Sunday. 

After 2 days of team competition, where France took the 8th place thanks in particular to the clear round of Simon Delestre & Dexter Fontenis Z. But France was not to be denied, reaching the final with Julien Epaillard & Dubaï du Cèdre and Olivier Perreau & Doraï d’Aiguilly * GL Events.

YES! Delysis was at France’s side in these championships, fitting the horses of our two ambassadors : 

  • Dubai du Cèdre ridden by Julien Epaillard
  • Dexter Fontenis Z ridden by Simon Delestre

On Sunday, the day of the final, the 25 best couples set off on this demanding course, with obstacles at 1.60m and a highly technical course. Julien Epaillard, who had previously finished in 7th place, rose this challenge with class.

With a masterful hand, the couple put in a perfect performance with a double clear round, taking them up to third place on the podium. This bronze medal at the European Championships is a remarkable achievement for Julien Epaillard and his 10-year-old mare Dubaï du Cedre, still very young for competitions at this level.

Julien, known for leaving his horses barefoot, trusts Delysis to give him access to grass fields. Shod with Flex’herb, his mare benefits from a barefoot feel, while also having the anti-slip and anti-vibration properties required for grass competition.

 

This performance marks a new high point in Julien Epaillard’s career, confirming his status as a world-class rider less than a year away from the Olympic Games.
